I had the wrong friends in junior high.

Hanging out with the right group of friends is especially important as children transition from elementary to middle school.

University of Oregon psychologists say the new friendships may directly influence a teenager’s potential academic success or future challenges in high school and beyond.

I had the worst friends and teachers (this means you, Mme. Garneau, and you, Mr. Alexander) in grades six, seven and eight. Seriously! It was a very unhappy time for me at school and at home. Interestingly, I made great friends in high school (who are still my friends) and great friends in elementary school (many with whom I am now re-establishing contact on Facebook). Isn't it just my luck that my future success depended on what this article refers to as "middle school"?
